Birthday Pret-a-portea, Shoe Heaven and a whole room of Gucci!!

A few weeks ago my very good friend and I headed to London to celebrate her 50th birthday.

Our first stop was Brick Lane just a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. Home to many a vintage shop and market but first we needed fuel so stopped for breakfast in a little café to set us up for the day ahead.

Full up and ready to hit the shops we wandered along Brick Lane – I love this area – such a mix of cultures, vintage, ethnic shops selling all sorts of wares. We had to take the obligatory outfit posts next to the famous street art.

Denise had reached the grand age of 50 but not experienced the 5th Floor bar in Harvey Nicks so our next port of call was to rectify that fact!! I love this bar it has been a regular for 15 years and my favourite Italian barman is still there – now the bar manager so we had a catch up and a cocktail.

After a quick look around the fashion and shoe floor we walked the short distance to our main reason for our visit – Pret- a Portea at The Berkley Hotel – I have been meaning to do this for an ages but never managed to get there so what better opportunity than a birthday to make it happen. Due to the fact that it has been 10 years since they first launched they had a selection of favourite treats from the past – the food was delicious!!

Harrods is not a store I have been into for a long time – I usually find it too touristy and due to the fact I worked in there a number of years ago I tend to avoid it but Denise wanted to visit the shoe floor – who knew they had a whole floor dedicated to shoes!! I fell in love with all the Gucci ones obviously – next stop was the designer lounge where they had rooms dedicated to international designers – I died and went to Gucci heaven!!!

After a long day of cocktails, champagne and clothes we headed back to the station for the journey home which turned out to be a bit longer than expected – due a broken down train we were left sitting on the station for 2 hours and arrived home just before midnight!! It put a bit of a damper on the day but we had such a fabulous time it really didn’t seem to matter!!

I must say I haven’t been to London much this year due to illness and although I wouldn’t want to live there now and I love Norwich I am looking forward to more London adventures with my girly friends and my lovely hubby.
