Autumn Trends – what to buy?

I LOVE Autumn – that time of year when it is not cold enough to have to wear at least 8 layers to keep warm but cool crisp days that lend themselves to layering and wonderful vintage fabrics such as tweeds, velvet and the new must have corduroy. My go to colours are always the rich berry tones, rusts and browns, orange, camel and teals all of which are perfectly on trend for this time of year.

Each year as the weather starts to turn and the new trends start to hit the high street I set my mind to sorting out my wardrobe and creating new an exciting outfits for the coming season. I look at what the designers have shown on the runway, take a look at what I already have in my wardrobe and what key pieces I need to look for – vintage versions of course.

So here is my round up of what the key trends are for Autumn/Winter – all of which have taken inspiration from the past.

One of the hottest prints of the season – checks in all colours and patterns – think dogtooth, tartan and plaid.

Another must have is cord – keep it simple with a jacket or a full blown suit and pussy bow seen at Prada or a cute dress over a frilly blouse seen at Chole.

Grannies cardigan is given a modern twist and I will keep you warm to – Miu Miu, Tory Burch and Gucci gave the old classic a stylish look.

And then there was Gucci – an outfit inspiration post wouldn’t be complete this collection – mixing up the prints and patterns to the max.

I have many of these pieces already in my wardrobe and have already added a hounds tooth pleated skirt and a couple of cardigans to the mix so am looking forward to putting some outfits together for the next few months.

What are you favourite looks for Autumn?
